He has seen Important People at the elevators, he has listened to Important People talk Important Things while waiting in line for coffee beverages.

The City Employee With The Weird Grin sees himself as an elite. Sure, he just has a mid-level job with the City, but he is in the Clubhouse. He has seen Important People at the elevators, he has listened to Important People talk Important Things while waiting in line for coffee beverages. They might have nodded at him once or twice. I have used in reference to him the phrase Cut-and-Paste Nation, and he is Cut-and-Paste smart. He has read about that thing you are talking about, he will send you a link. He might not know much about that other thing you are talking about, but he has memes about it on his phone, so he gets the gist. I would think that he would be frequenting a bar with more status, one Downtown instead of on the Ave, one more in line with his self-regard. Of course, maybe he has tried that already, and found that the Important People that talk Important Things have no need to talk to him. This is just a guess. So he positions himself as an elite at a bar that...

I have mentioned before that we have become a Cut-and-Paste Nation. And the City Employee With The Weird Grin is a prime example.

The City Employee With The Weird Grin is happy lately. Above the Weird Grin there is now a noticeable twinkle to his eye. It probably isn't the particular eye twinkle of a child molester, but then it could be: I don't know. He likes politics that go his way, and he believes politics now are starting to go his way. Or at least the people who's politics go the other way are being hurt: either / or. As I have said before, this is not an uncommon template for many to view the world. He is an example, not a particularly interesting one, but he is one of those who fit that template. And he is at the bar. So: proximity. He sits at his usual table, with his usual friends -- I'll probably catalog them later, I assume. Anyway, he is showing the latest political memes on his iPhone. You can tell the ones he really likes: he reads those aloud. After two or three some of his friends say "Yeah, I saw that one," or stare off at the TV. The TV sound is off, but you d...

Like leaving their phone at the one-night-stand they never wanted to see again.

The City Employee With The Weird Grin came into the bar a few days ago. He is not a bad guy, or at least I don't know enough about him to say much one way or another. His default facial expression is a weird grin, but that doesn't always indicate a child molester. As far as him being a child molester: I don't know enough about him to say much one way or another. The problem when he comes in is that he is always talking politics. Always. He uses a standard template: people who agree with him are the Good Guys, and people he doesn't like are the Bad Guys. And Stupid: they are Stupid Bad Guys. Who are also Evil. That is, if one were to actually believe in the Concept of Evil, which is really just a laughable relic of superstitious religious folk who are afraid of Science. And those superstitious religious folk are obviously Bad and Stupid. And don't believe in Science: it is all connected. A lot of people can be like this, but they can generally mix it up with...
